Work Experience
WEPLUGGOODMUSIC (Review Website)
I wrote a couple of reviews for the London based company WEPLUGGOODMUSIC. On a voluntary basis, I provided them with in depth pieces on brand new albums including PJ Harvey's 'The Hope Six Demolition Project' and A Giant Dog's 'Pile'. This gave me good experience in writing bigger, more detailed pieces for a well known company.

Damon Traverse Reports - (Review Website)
Beginning in March 2016, I provided this website with one music review a week on a voluntary basis. So far, I have written reviews on single songs, EPs, albums. live shows and music videos. This role has given me an insight into the world of music journalism and has taught me how to listen more carefully to music and constructively evaluate something from a impartial point of view.

Gamlins Music Centre - (Music Instrument Shop)
During the week I spent working at Gamlins, the main thing I learnt was that more often than not, in order to sell musical equipment you have got to know about what you are selling. This week gave me the push to go and learn more so that in the future I would be able to talk confidently about musical equipment. I spent some time in the drum department of this shop that week where I assembled and disassembled various drum kits (acoustic and electric). What I took from this procedure was that the best way to know about any musical instrument is to know each piece individually, the same way a mechanic knows each part of a car for example. So, although it was only a week in a shop, I took some interesting ideas away with me which I have been able to apply in various circumstances since.

Ty Du Studio - (Small Recording Studio)
During my time at Ty Du Studio I was shown a typical working week in the studio. There were no bands in that week but there had been the week before, so there was plenty of mixing to be done. As well as this, Alex (the man in charge), was working on a piece of music that would later be used in a film trailer in America. So, I was shown the process of planning and completing a project like this. This week taught me about the working style of someone running their own studio so I now know a little bit more about that side of the music business.

GM Music - (Music Instrument Shop)
In GM Music I was able to spend a month surrounded by musical equipment, talking to customers and colleagues about various things. When I did the week in Gamlins years before, I only had a basic knowledge of musical instruments but coming into GM Music after three years of studying music in University and about 7 years playing music I was far more confident about what I was talking about. I continued to build up my musical knowledge and vocabulary the more I spoke to people so for me it wasn't a job that was just about earning money but also helping me to learn more about music.
